About QR Code 42

QR Code 42 is a service for putting one GS1 Digital Link QR code on a product pack: your checkout scanner reads the GTIN, and a shopper's phone opens a web page you control — and can change after the label is printed.
Our mission
Checkout scanning is moving from 1D barcodes to 2D. We help brands whose products are sold in stores get ready for that: one GS1 Digital Link QR code on the pack that a store's 2D scanner can read at the register, that a shopper's phone can open, and that you can keep pointing at the right place. We want the move to be low-drama for small and mid-size brands, and to give their retail partners a standard code that just works.
Who runs it
QR Code 42 is operated by Frequency 42 LLC (frequency42.com), a limited liability company based in Marquette, Michigan, USA. You can reach us at support@qrcode42.com.
What it is
- A GS1 Digital Link resolver that has been verified against GS1's own official resolver conformance suite.
- A dashboard and API to claim the GTINs you already own, publish links by language, country, lot or serial, and export print-ready label artwork (QR plus your existing UPC-A or EAN-13).
- Hosting on a shared resolver (
qr-42.com) or, on higher plans, your own brand domain.
What it isn't
- QR Code 42 is an independent service. It isn't GS1, and it isn't affiliated with or endorsed by GS1. We've applied for GS1's Solution Partner program, which is a separate business-side process, and are waiting to hear back.
- We don't issue GTINs. Your GTINs come from GS1 or your GS1 member organization; we help you point them somewhere useful.
How we work
We try to be plain about what the product does and doesn't do. Claims on the shared host are reviewed before they resolve, there is a dispute process if two accounts contest the same GTIN, and when we get something wrong we say so on the page instead of quietly editing it. A printed label can't be recalled, so codes you've published keep resolving even if you cancel.
